What each floor is
- SPC (stone plastic composite): a rigid core vinyl plank. Floor Daily describes SPC cores as having a much higher concentration of limestone and no foaming agents, which makes them thinner, denser and heavier than WPC cores.
- Laminate: a wood-based board with a printed decor and wear layer.
- Flexible vinyl (LVT, glue-down or loose-lay): thin vinyl without a rigid core.

Water and humidity in the UAE
Dubai's average annual humidity is about 59%, peaking at 65% in January and February, according to the Government of Dubai Media Office. Swiss Krono writes that laminate is basically not suitable for bathrooms, showers, saunas and toilets, and that even its moisture-protected line is "not waterproof". SPC planks are waterproof, but they are still a floating floor: BestFloor notes it does not install SPC inside showers or wet rooms with floor drains.
Heat and sun
